Sudan, Eriterea for bettering relations
Sudan's Foreign Minister Mustafa Ismael on Monday in Doha met with his Eriterean counterpart Hayli Weld Tensae in an attempt to purify the atmosphere between the two countries. The meeting was under the mediation of Qatar.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of Qatar's foreign ministry and in the presence of its foreign minister Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani. The two ministers did not make any statements.
The two countries severed diplomatic relations in December 1994 after Sudan asserted that Eriterea supports the rebellions in Southern Sudan. The Sudanese foreign minister said on Monday in a statement that his country will spare no efforts to ensure the success of the negotiations. He expressed hope to have the same endeavor in the Eriterea side.
