Demonstrations in Egyptian universities
Hundreds of students from Egyptian universities organized a demonstration protesting a decision issued by Cairo University to exclude them from student union elections.
The students say that university officials who check out the background of the nominees prevented a large number of students belonging to opposition parties from taking part in the elections, claiming that they are not competent.
The demonstrators were supported by the prohibited Muslim Brotherhood group and opposition parties.
A student who spoke to ArabicNews.com on condition of anonymity said that a group of riot forces surrounded the university and prevented the students from going out into streets.
