A message from President Saleh to President al-Assad

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Monday received Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul Qader Bajmal. The Yemeni minister delivered a message to President al-Assad from Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The Yemeni minister briefed President al-Assad on the results of the settlement of the dispute between Yemen and Eritrea over the Hanish Islands. President al-Assad expressed satisfaction over the return of the islands to Yemen by peaceful means. Discussions dealt with developments and conditions in the region.

Earlier in the day, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa discussed with Bajmal the Arab situation, developments in the Arab region and the importance of solidarity and joint Arab action.
