Israel will not implement agreement unless Palestine presents security plan
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will not implement the Wye agreement reached last week in the United States unless the Palestinian government presents an overdue security work plan for combating terrorism and the Palestinian National Council amends the items of national charter aimed at destroying Israel.
Netanyahu announced that he postponed the meeting of the Israeli Cabinet that was to be held today to ratify the agreement until an unspecified time until the Palestinians present an acceptable security work plan.
The advisor of Netanyahu David Bar-Ilan said that the reason for postponing the meeting is the anti-terrorism plan that the Palestinian authority has to present to the US administration.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu's office disclosed a communique sent to Netanyahu from US Secretary of State Albright in which the latter stated that Netanyahu has to complete every stage in particular before proceeding into a new stage, moreover Albright said: "We believe that the partial implementation will contribute in enhancing the confidence between the two sides in the peace process."
The recently signed agreement that will take effect next Monday between the Palestinians and Israelis specify a specific timeline for the obligation that has to be met by each side.
