Moussa meets with US ambassador in Cairo to review recent accord

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa met tonight with the US ambassador in Cairo, Daniel Kurtzer, who said after the meeting that serious consultations between US and Egypt continue about a large number of matters.

Answering reporters' questions, Kurtzer said this meeting specifically tackled the Israeli - Palestinian Wye Plantation agreement, as the two exchanged points of view, especially after the visit of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to Cairo and Moussa's visit to Jordan, pointing that this was an opportunity to have more positive consultation.

Kurtzer said his country intends to help all parties implement this agreement, adding "I know well that Egypt and other Arab countries are greatly concerned with the success of this agreement."

Kurtzer avoided commenting on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements about the continuing establishment of settlement, saying that the agreement calls for the two parties to fulfill their roles.
