US ambassador in Cairo says US strategy toward Egypt has not changed

US ambassador in Cairo Daniel Kurtzer denied that there has been a change in the American strategy toward Egypt. He stated that the gradual reduction in annual aid to Egypt comes as a result of the reduction in the US foreign aid budget.

He added that the Egyptian - US relations are strong and rapidly growing and that Egypt is a strategic ally for the US. Kurtzer said the US administration and Congress decided to reduce the amount of aid presented to Egypt and Israel alike.
