Lebanese embassy in Iraq opens on administrative level
A Lebanese official source in Amman said on Thursday that Lebanese administrative employee Elias Numnum arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on his way to Baghdad to assume his duty at his country's embassy there.
In August, Lebanon decided to delegate an administrator to deal with consulate and trade matters at the Lebanese embassy in Baghdad, which had been closed for four years.
The source added that Numnum, who will head for Baghdad on Sunday, is in charge of delivering the embassy headquarters and evaluating its condition.
Lebanon boycotted its diplomatic relations with Iraq in 1994 following the assassination of Iraqi opposition member Muhammad Suheil al-Tamimi in Beirut and the accusation of Iraqi diplomats that Lebanon was behind the killing.
