Jordan denies report that King Hussein has only three months to live
Jordan has categorically denied a report by the British "Foreign Report" intelligence bulletin that King Hussein of Jordan, who has been undergoing chemotherpay in the US for Lymph cancer, is in his last days and may die within three months.
The British news bulletin quoted a medical report prepared by "reliable Jordanian medical source" as saying, "If no dramatic change takes place, the King has three months to live."
The bulletin added that King Hussein had decided to come back to Jordan prior to the previously-set date, November 28, "in order to spend his last days in his country."
The bulletin continued that the US intelligence has similar medical reports about the health condition of the King. It added that the main topics in the talks held by chairman of the CIA in Israel with the Israeli Prime Minister is "Jordan after King Hussein."
However, a US State Department statement earlier this week said that King Hussein, who has participated this week in the Wye Plantation peace talks, is "making good progress" in his treatments, and State Department spokesman said the US has not concluded that the king's condition is terminal.
Meanwhile, Jordanian Minister of Information Nasser Jouda strongly denied what had been said in the British bulletin. He said, "Information relating to his Majesty's health comes first and last from him. We will not listen to information by people who do not identify themselves."
Jouda added that the king responds positively to the treatment and reiterated to his government in Amman that his health is "improving." Several days ago, the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot published a similar report about the health condition of the king.
