Social sector uses 44 percent of state budget with poor results
The social sector absorbs nearly 44 percent of the state budget, but the results reached at the practical level remain below the expectations, said Moroccan minister of social development and solidarity, Khalid Alioua.
The official who was addressing the opening session of a solidarity forum held in Rabat on Wednesday said even though the social sector is allotted 44 percent of the budget, the results are still poor. He said that 55 percent of the population are still illiterate, 30 percent children of schooling age do not attend school, only less than 15 percent of the population access medical coverage and only 20 percent of the population have a form or other of social coverage.
Alioua who is also minister of employment and vocational training suggested the creation of special funds to assist the people on the dole, saying these funds will guarantee a kind of solidarity between the employed and the unemployed people.
