Hussein Aideed in Qatar

Originally published

An official source in Qatar said that Somali leader Hussein Muhammad Aideed arrived on Monday night in Doha for a two-day visit to Qatar during which he will discuss the crisis taking place in his country with officials in Qatar.

Aideed, who controls the southern part of the Somali capital, told the Qatari News Agency that he will deliver the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khaleifa Bin Hamad al-Thani, a message of thanks from leaders of the Somali factions over the efforts he exerts to settle the Somali crisis.

Aideed called upon leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states to participate in sorting out the conflict in his country during the coming GCC summit to be held in Abu Dhabi.

Aided visited Yemen in the middle of last September and met with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Yemen is one of seven Arab states assigned by the Arab League to find a solution to the Somali crisis.
