The Vatican's resident charge d'affairs in Amman, Dominik Rizo, has called for achieving peace in the Middle East region according to Madrid conference and so far reached agreements.

In press statements he made in Amman on Wednesday the papal nuncio stressed the need to exert efforts to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region and to honor justice principles and legitimate rights.

He added that Pope John Paul II has repeatedly stressed great care and efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region. He asserted that the Palestinians people have the full rights to their territories and to life and stability. "The Vatican can not be against people's rights," Rizo said.

He denounced the Israeli practices in occupied Jerusalem, adding that the Vatican recalls the decision of the UN general Assembly which condemns the building of settlement in occupied Jerusalem.
