Ugandan envoy is due in Cairo on Wednesday
Ugandan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Eriya Kategaya is to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday as an envoy of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak focusing on the Sudanese crisis.
The talks will deal specifically with the battles that took place recently in the south, as Khartoum accuses Kampala of taking part in the fighting and of sending forces to the Sudanese People's Liberation Army, led by John Garang.
Kategaya's visit comes after a phone call between Presidents Mubarak and Museveni in which they exchanged points of view concerning the situations in the African Horn region and in southern Sudan, and after the Arab League received a Sudanese note in which Sudan accused Uganda of shelling Sudanese cities, participating in an invasion, attacking regional sovereignty, threatening the country's unity and violating international legitimacy.
Thus the Ugandan envy will deliver a message to Mubarak from Museveni in which the latter will discuss his country's attitude toward the crisis.
