Morocco recognized for its water management and preservation
Morocco and UNESCO concluded in Paris on Thursday an agreement for the setting up of a water chair at the public works Hassania engineers school in Casablanca.
The accord was initialed by Moroccan Minister of Higher Education Najib Zerouali and UNESCO Director General Federico Mayor on the sidelines of the world conference on higher education held in Paris October 5 - 9.
Mayor said this initiative is meant to back Morocco's efforts in matters of water management and preservation.
The purpose of the chair, he said, is to help competent departments conduct research and prospecting works on water at a time when most countries are threatened in the mid or long term by water scarcity that is accentuated by global warming.
This is the third chair set up by Morocco and UNESCO after those of natural gas and human rights at Rabat's Mohammed V University.
