Moussa: Cairo pursues mediation to settle Turkish - Syrian row

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said that the mediation of President Mubarak between Turkey and Israel aims at containing and defusing the current crisis. In press statements Moussa said that the issue is very complicated, but it can be solved by diplomatic means without any military action or other escalation.

Moussa expressed his hope that the Egyptian efforts would succeed, refusing to specify the Egyptian proposals President Mubarak carried to Turkey, pointing out that the statement issued by Syria calls for discussion.
