Morocco's balance of payments posts 549 mln surplus

The balance of payments posted a surplus of 5.27 billion dh ($ 549 mln) in 1996-1997, after a deficit of 8.39 Billion DH ($ 874 Mln) in 1995.

According to the exchange office, in 1997 the account of current transactions (goods, services, income and remittances) had a negative balance of 830.7 mln DH while the balance of capital and financial operations posted a positive surplus of 4.4 Mln DH).
