Algerian - US naval exercises

Algerian naval forces on Sunday carried out with the US Sixth Fleet exercises on "training and rescue in the Mediterranean Sea," off Sidi Faraj district near the capital, Algiers.

An Algerian source said these exercises also included simulation operations to rescue fishermen who fell from a fishing boat. The Algerian sources added that the destroyer "USS Mitscher" and naval planes "B-3 Orion" took part in the exercises on the American side, whereas the Algerian side was represented by two ships Coast Guard ships and a rescue ship manned by 433 sailors.
