Lahd calls for a solution, as Israeli soldiers are killed in roadside bombs
Lebanese resistance fighters detonated roadside bombs near an Israeli convoy in south Lebanon on Monday. The explosions resulted in killing two Israeli soldiers and wounding three others, the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army said.
The Israeli convoy was attacked in Hasbayah in the occupied strip of south Lebanon. The Israeli sources stated that two Israeli soldiers died from their wounds, and two others suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital in Marjayoun. The sources added that a third Israeli soldier was injured in the bombings and received medical treatment near the site of the attacks.
Earlier, in the day, the Israeli occupation forces continued their attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of targeted Lebanon. News reports from south Lebanon said the occupation artillery pounded on Monday afternoon, the outskirts of Kafra, Yater, Majdal Zoun, Zibqin, Jab a and al-Asi area towns.
The Israelis, moreover, bombarded several areas of the Western Bekaa, especially the outskirts of Mashghara al-Tineh and Maidoun villages. One of the shells dropped on a center for the Lebanese Army in the surroundings of Toumat Neiha region and resulted in minor wounds to a Lebanese soldier.
The bombardment, however, resulted in damaging the high-voltage electricity grid linking Markaba and Aula electricity installations.
Meanwhile, Lebanese sources confirmed to ArabicNews.com today that the leader of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army, General Antoine Lahd, stated that he is eager to find a solution to the occupied area of Jezzine through French and US mediation.
The sources added that he is making no conditions for his forces' withdrawal from Jezzine, taking into consideration that the SLA leader considers himself the only party responsible for Jezzine and that UN Security Council resolution 425 does not call for conditions in south Lebanon withdrawal.
