Yemeni Grouping for Reform calls on government to hold talks

Originally published

The Yemeni Grouping for Reform called on the Yemeni government to resume talks with parties and political forces for preserving the limited democratic freedom in Yemen.

Before convening the party's second general conference on Tuesday, the party's secretary-general, Mohammed El-Yadawy, called for discussions among all parties and political powers without any exception, especially the Socialist Party.

He also confirmed that his party will not present a new nominee for the Yemeni presidency in the coming year and that the nominee of the reform party is Ali Abdallah Saleh, Yemen's current president.

El-Yadawy said that the reform party will not keep Yemeni women from serving as parliament members, although the matter depends on Yemeni customs and traditions.
