GCC customs unity committee meets in Riyadh
The third meeting of the federal customs committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states began on Sunday in Riyadh to complete discussions on topics which would help in setting up the GCC customs unions.
During its three-day deliberations, the committee will discuss means of dealing with customs fees on foreign commodities to be exported out of the GCC states, and protection of national origin products.
By establishing a customs union, the GCC aims at improving inter-GCC trade and giving more freedom to commodities of national origin in moving throughout the GCC states, as well as enabling GCC member states to adopt solid and balanced economic relations with world economic blocs.
