Bin Ali brings about changes in Democratic Constitutional Rally leadership

Originally published

Tunisian President Zien El-Abedin Bin Ali made some important changes in the leadership of the ruling Democratic Constitutional Rally, appointing Sadek Fiala, Morocco's minister of Arab affairs, to the post of assistant secretary general in the party. This post had remained vacant for three years since Hatem Ben Othman, the former assistant secretary general, was chosen as education minister.

The changes covered other posts, such as women's, youths' and students' trusteeship, in addition to new appointments in the permanent trusteeship of the party.

Bin Ali tried to keep Abdul Aziz Ben Minaa, the party's secretary general, in his post, despite indications that Ben Minaa would be nominated to assume one of the important ministerial posts.
