The first cultural week for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council will be held on October 5, in Tunis.

It falls in the course of the GCC states' attempt to create a united cultural and media message to convey a realistic message about the inhabitants of the Arab Gulf region.

Director of media affairs at the general secretariat of the GCC, Ahmad Abdul Malik, said in a statement on Saturday in Riyadh that the cultural week includes a festivities center on all walks of life in the GCC states. These include development, the media, plastic art, literature, folklore and economic relations between the GCC states and the Arab Maghreb states.

Abdul Malik asserted that media coverage through cultural and media weeks is the best means of enabling the Arab states to get to know about each other. He added the Gulf cultural week in Tunisia will mark the beginning of other cultural weeks to be held in Arab and foreign states, alike.
