US and the Lebanese elections

US Undersecretary of State Martin Indyk said after meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on Tuesday night in New York: "We do not expect foreign intervention in American elections, so we dare not interfere in others' elections."

A Monte Carlo radio correspondent in Washington said that Indyk's statements came in reply to a question on measures pertaining to the forthcoming Lebanese elections.
