Libya: West dishonest about solving Lockerbie crisis
A member of the Libyan revolution leadership council, Major El-Khawaildi El-Hamidi, accused the Western countries of trying to impose new sanctions on Libya and deceive public opinion as well as governments.
He said that they are dishonest in their resolve to solve the decade-old Lockerbie case.
He said he believes that United Nations Security Council resolution 1192, which permits the trial of the two Libyan suspects in the 1988 explosion of a Pan Am jet before a Scottish court in the Netherlands, is not a solution for the problem but a complication to it.
El-Hamidi delivered Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali a written message from Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi concerning methods of developing bilateral relations and the new developments in the Lockerbie issue.
