Morocco and UNFPA agree to cooperate on violence against women
Morocco and the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) on Friday concluded a cooperation accord related to "marriage, divorce and violence against women."
Under the accord, which provides for a UNFPA contribution worth more than 183,000 USD, an information and observation system will be set up in two years to follow issues related to violence against women. The system will help treat some 24,000 penal cases.
Such initiative is a "premiere in the Arab World," sources from the Moroccan Justice Department said.
The accord was initialled by Moroccan Justice Minister, Omar Azziman, and UNFPA representative in Morocco, Vincent Fauveau.
