Iranian foreign minister to meet U.S. officials in New York
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi is to meet with UN officials and US officials in New York.
Iranian sources said these meetings aim at developing relations between the two countries.
US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright had previously called on Iran to hold talks. "I am very eager to hear what he (Kharazi) has to say" at the UN on September 25, Albright said Thursday, adding that government-to-government dialogue "is on the table."
Meanwhile, Iran brought back its nine diplomats who were killed by fighters from the Afghan Taleban movement in Mezar El-Sherif city in Afghanistan last month, and they established the rituals of the formal funeral, in which "officials in Iran and from Islamic Arab countries took part.
10,000 in Tehran demonstrated against the Taleban movement, Pakistan and the U.S., repeating slogans that confirm the reluctance of the Iranian public to demand an operation against the Taleban.
