American missiles for UAE
Sources said today that the US presented an offer to supply missiles to the United Arab Emirates, adding that the offer will be comprehensively examined along with offers presented by other countries before a decision is made.
The sources said the highly-advanced missiles valued at $1 billion and built by Raytheon, comes after the UAE signed a note with the U.S.A to buy 80 F-16 fighter planes, a deal signed by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, last June. The missiles would be carried by fighter planes.
Meanwhile military sources confirmed that the UAE has conditions that this deal is expected to be implemented at the beginning of 2000.
