Iraq asks for details on new UN proposal

Iraq today asked UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan more details concerning an offer providing for the UN Security Council to make comprehensive revisions of sanctions imposed on Iraq, if Baghdad resumes its cooperation with UN inspectors.

In a statement issued today by Iraqi dailies, Iraqi Foreign Minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf said that there are contacts between Iraq and the UN secretary general to learn more details about the comprehensive revision of the Iraqi file.
