A message from Arafat to Jordanian crown prince

Well-informed Jordanian sources said that secretary of the PLO executive committee, Mahmoud Abbas, who will arrive in Amman today is carrying a message from Palestinian President Arafat to Jordan's Crown Prince Hassan.

The message detailed the efforts made by the US Middle East peace process coordinator Dennis Ross who "until now" failed to convince Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to approve the US initiative, which is viewed by the Palestinians as the criteria for failure or success.

On Saturday Abbas, along with Jordanian Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh will chair meetings of the Palestinian-Jordanian higher committee in order to discuss means of revitalizing executive agreements and programs and dealing with obstacles hindering the movement of commodities across bridges and crossings between the two sides.
