Government ready to hire protesting jobless graduates in private sector
The Moroccan government on Wednesday voiced readiness to employ in the private sector, the jobless graduates staging a sit-in before the parliament headquarters.
As the public sector is not able to employ graduates, "The government is ready to secure jobs in private enterprises to these jobless graduates," Social Development, Solidarity, Employment and Vocational Training Minister Khalid Alioua told the House of Representatives (lower house).
Scores of graduates, including doctoral degree holders and engineers, have been staging a sit-in before the parliament premises to claim their "right to employment."
The government is trying to settle the unemployment problem part of the training-employment (internship) formula, Alioua, who is also a government spokesman, said.
Through the training-employment formula, the authorities seek to guarantee training courses for the graduates in private firms leading to integration in the working life.
Alioua said that some 2,000 graduates were in fact hired part of this formula.
