Candidate for Lebanon's presidency to visit Damascus

Originally published

Candidate for Lebanon's presidency Butros Harb stated that he will visit Damascus soon for consultations concerning the coming presidential elections.

The deputy chairman of the Higher Shiite Council Mufti Sheikh Abdul Amir Kabalan said that people are living in confusion concerning Lebanon's presidency and the status of elections.

He added, "We want a president for all the Lebanese people, not for a family or for an area or for a faction." He said that when the parliamentary council elects the president, he no longer represents his faction but the whole nation.

He also wondered why the presidential candidates do not dare declare their nominations and programs. He praised the steps taken by Harb, a deputy in the Lebanese Parliament this respect.
