Barzani and Talibani meet in Washington
Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Massoud Barzani said in a statement to the United Arab Emirates daily al-Itihad that the currently-proposed US project in the US congress that provides for reactivating the Iraqi opposition is "a dead before birth project."
Barzani said he will meet tomorrow with leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Jalal Talibani, in Washington in the course of US mediation to achieve reconciliation and settle disputes between the two parties.
Barzani said he will be flexible to reach an accord with Talibani, but he added that he is not ready to form a joint government in Iraqi Kurdistan. He asserted that his party is careful to maintain Iraq's unity. He said there is a continuous dialogue with Baghdad, noting that his party does not intend to replace the Iraqi government, MENA reported.
