Syria facilitated right of asylum for Algerian citizen in Norway

A Syrian source in Cairo denied today that the Syrian authorities delivered Algerian Islamic intellectual El-Tayeb Bargout to the Algerian authorities when they delivered 22 Islamists at the beginning of the current year.

The source said his country helped Bargout obtain the right of asylum in Norway, adding that the employees of the Supreme Commissariat for Refugees' Affairs in Damascus sponsored his departure to Oslo at the beginning of June.

Algerian President Liamine Zeroual delivered Syrian President Hafez al-Assad during their meeting in September last year a list that comprises 32 Islamists wanted in his country.
