Clashes continue between Lebanese resistance, Israeli forces
The pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army and Israeli occupation troops imposed a tight siege on Ein Majdolin town in Jezzine, after four militiamen were killed last week in a blast from an explosive charge planted by the Lebanese national resistance men in the town.
Sources from Jezzine said SLA forces have prevented people from entering or leaving the town, and they did not allow any food or supplies to enter the town.
Meanwhile, Lebanese resistance forces carried out three attacks against Israeli troops and SLA positions in occupied south Lebanon. In statements, the resistance said its men attacked the positions of Israeli forces and pro-Israeli militia in the Sujoud, Beer Klab and Beit Yahoun areas, using machine-guns and rockets. The statements stressed that direct hits were achieved on the positions as a result of the attacks.
The Israeli occupation forces on Sunday afternoon shelled al-Tuffah district hills near the occupied part of south Lebanon.
Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery in al-Zaffata position shelled al-Rafi' mountain, the woods of Sujoud and al-Rayhan, Aqmata farm and the Litani river area. The shelling was accompanied by heavy machine-gun fire on the mountainous roads linking al-Tuffah district to the occupied part of south Lebanon.
In the evening, the Israeli Air Force carried out provocative raids over wide areas of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes flew at low altitude over the cities of Sidon, Tyre, al-Nabatieh and the western and central districts. In retaliation, the Lebanese army fired anti-aircraft missiles at the Israeli planes.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces on Saturday continued to attack areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery bombarded Toulin town, while phosphoric shells targeted the areas around the houses causing material damage.
The area of al-Qeyseiah valley and the outskirts of Khirbit Suloum town were also subjected to a bombardment by the Israeli forces in the Muheibib position in occupied south Lebanon.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese resistance group on Saturday attacked the Israeli forces and pro-Israeli militia position in al-Qantara area in the central sector of occupied south Lebanon, using machine-guns, rockets and mortars. In a statement, the resistance said that after a 20-minute clash, the resistance forces were able to achieve direct hits on the Israeli forces and their positions.
Ghana's soldiers working for UNIFIL were compelled to find sanctuary away from the shelled area.
