Francophone constitutional council conference in Beirut
Lebanon is to host Friday the works of the second conference of the Association of Francophone Constitutional Councils' leaders, considered an international event on the constitutional and legal levels.
The head of the Lebanese Constitutional Council, Judge Amin Nassar, confirmed this morning in a press conference that the Francophone conference will comprise more than 40 countries from different continents, saying that the meeting is very important because it will be held outside France for the first time. He said it is in Lebanon according to a special recommendation from French President Jacques Chirac, which confirms the international position of Lebanon on the judicial, legal and cultural levels.
The conference tackles subjects contributing to strengthening the constitutional councils by confirming the human rights and liberties and reinforcing the concept of the "Rule of Law," beside the general constitutional principles forming an important link between the participating countries.
It will also tackle the basis of strong cooperation, exchanging knowledge and information across the Internet to be available to everybody.
