Palestinian government rejects changes to security understanding with Israel

Originally published

High-ranking Palestinian sources asserted that Palestinian security bodies refused any amendment in the security understanding reached by Palestinian and Israeli security officials under US supervision at the end of the last year. The security understanding was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at that time.

The sources told ArabicNews.com that Netanyahu seeks to abort the first security agreement arrived at through Palestinian - Israeli talks.

Officials in the Israeli and Palestinian security bodies and the US Central Intelligence Agency signed a joint note for security understanding last December. The note dictated equal treatment for Palestinian and Israeli terrorists.

That reciprocity was a major reason the Israeli government did not approve the agreement.
