Syrian Cabinet discusses Turkish-Israeli military alliance
In its weekly meeting Tuesday, the Syrian Cabinet listened to explanations given by Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on the latest developments in the Arab and international arenas.
Al-Sharaa talked about the latest developments and results of recent visits and meetings. The Cabinet ministers also focused on the positive results of the Non-Aligned Movement summit, held last week in South Africa.
They also focused the Turkish-Israeli military alliance and its effect on the region's security and stability and joint Turkish-Arab interests. In this context, the Syrian Cabinet noted Syria's wish to maintain its historical relations with Turkey in serving the interests of the two peoples and in compliance with the spirit of solidarity between the "two Islamic states."
The Syrian Cabinet asserted that any military alliance with Israel is viewed as backing Israel's continued occupation of holy Jerusalem and the occupied Arab territories, which is an obstruction to the establishment of just and comprehensive peace in the region.
