Moroccan track and field star Hicham El Guerrouj confirmed Saturday in Moscow his supremacy over the 1500 m after winning the race for the 7th time in row.

Led through the first 1,000 m by Kenyan pro pacemaker Robert Kibet, El Guerrouj powered ahead and ran the remaining 500 meters well ahead of the rest of the field.

He crossed the finish line undisturbed in 3:32.03 and got his share of the IAAF-Golden League $1 million jackpot.

Three of his main contenders for a shair of the prize, U.S. fastest woman Marion Jones and Ethiopian mid-long distance champ, Haile Gebresselassie also got their shares of the jackpot after dominating respectively in the 100 m and 3000 m races at the Moscow's IAAF-Grand prix final.

After the Moscow final, El-Guerrouj and Marion Jones topped the list of the IAAF standings becoming the best world athletes.

El Guerrouj is the only athlete who set a new world record at a Golden League meet when he smashed the mark for the 1500m at the Roman stop of the Golden League, the Golden Gala on 14th July, with an incredible 3:26.00.

El Guerrouj, Marion Jones and Gebresselassie shared the IAAF-Ericsson jackpot after having excelled and won the same event in the six Golden League meetings (Oslo, Rome, Monaco, Zurich, Brussels and Berlin) plus the IAAF-Grand Prix final.
