Originally published

Morocco's air company "Royal Air Maroc" (RAM) and the regional carrier "Gulf Air" signed on Sunday an agreement to operate joint flights between Casablanca and the Gulf region.

This is the first code-share agreement of the kind between Arab air companies.

The signing of this agreement shows the two companies' will to improve the competitiveness and the performance of the air route servicing Morocco and the gulf region, Qatar News Agency quoted the president of Gulf Air as saying.

According to the source, the two companies are conducting studies to enlarge the agreement to other Gulf Air member countries, in order to operate direct flights between Casablanca, Bahrain, Doha and Muscat.

Bahrain-based Gulf Air, which operates a fleet of 28 aircraft, is owned by the governments of Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Abu Dhabi.
