Visiting Euro-MP delegation meets Moroccan Press Union chief

A visiting European parliamentary delegation conferred Tuesday in Rabat with the secretary general of the Moroccan Press Union, Youness Moujahed, on the situation of Moroccan press and on the problems faced by Moroccan journalists.

Talks also covered Morocco's press freedom, journalism ethics, Euro-backed journalism training programs and the way the European media deals with immigration and the Sahara issue.

The two sides stressed the need to enhance dialogue and cooperation between Moroccan and European journalists to avoid preconceived ideas of Arabs, Muslims and particularly of Morocco.

The EU delegation, led by the head of the Strasbourg-based European Council's Parliamentary Assembly, Leni Fischer, arrived last weekend in Morocco on a working visit to give a new momentum to partnership between Morocco and the European Union.
