GCC states conduct survey on shrimp fisheries

Originally published

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries Jamil Al-Hujailan signed on Sunday a technical assistance agreement between the GCC Secretariat General and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) on shrimp fisheries in the GCC's regional waters.

A statement issued by the Riyadh-based secretariat said that the survey, which would be carried out by GCC experts, would inspect the shrimp supplies, specify the best means of administering it, as well as training the national staff on analyzing and collecting data on shrimp.

According to this agreement, the IDB will take the responsibility for financing part of the survey costs, while the remaining part would be financed by the Kuwaiti-based Arab fund for limiting the deterioration of shrimp fisheries.
