Sudan calls on Garang to ease access to aid in the south
Sudan newely confirmed its adherence to peace and discussion regarding the south.
A statement issued by the information attachment to the Sudanese embassy in Cairo said yesterday that, "The Sudanese government's statement on the Addis Ababa negotiations confirmed the importance of the comprehensive cease fire."
The statement said that Sudan asked the international community to stress to southern rebel leader John Garang the importance of facilitating the arrival of humanitarian aid to the people of southern Sudan.
The statement expressed the Sudanese government's sadness over the non-response of the south to ideas to end the suffering as well as to halt the war for good.
