Egyptian trade minister: European committee to solve potato exports dispute
Ahmed Goweili, the Egyptian minister of trade and supply, stated during his meeting yesterday with the students of Alexandria University that President Hosni Mubarak is following with deep concern the developments of the dumping charges raised by some European countries against Egyptian exports of cotton and textiles.
Goweili stated that there are substantial efforts and intensive communications on the economic and political levels to support the Egyptian position in these cases on which a final vote is expected to be made during September.
He said, "Egypt is not in a commercial war with anyone yet it defends its rights and its legal interests."
Goweili also added that a committee from the European Union will arrive in Cairo at the beginning of September to discuss problems facing Egyptian potato exports to the European markets.
