Attractiveness of Morocco's stock exchange highlighted

Originally published

French business weekly "Les Echos" underlined on Thursday the various assets of the Casablanca stock market and its attractiveness for local and foreign investors.

The weekly stressed that the Moroccan bourse has just launched a promotion program geared to market accessibility and transparency, adding that with the largest capitalization in Africa, reaching $148 billion, the stock market has succeeded in attracting local investors and is aspiring to involve most of the country's major enterprises and attract foreign capital holders.

Last month, the stock market of Casablanca took measures such as reducing commissions in order to increase the accessibility of the market, reduce prices and promote its attractiveness, says the weekly which recalls that the bourse also adopted an electronic listing system.

"Les Echos" quotes Fatiha Bennis, chairwoman of the "SBVC," (the company managing the market), as saying that the fiscal amnesty planned by the government will end the unwillingness of enterprises and convince them to enter the stock market.
