The Kuwaiti's Ummah council on Wednesday agreed to subject most institutions owned by the government to the accounting monitoring committee, with certain exceptions. The council also approved a draft project aimed at enlarging the validity of the auditing bureau, an independent body which monitors government funds.

The draft project excludes sales of crude oil, investment contracts and the Kuwaiti central bank from calculation audition. The Ummah council also approved the fiscal year 1998-1999 budget estimated at 4.362 billion Kuwaiti dinars (US $14.21 billion), MENA reported.
