Originally published

The Austrian ambassador in Amman, Philip Huse, whose country is currently holding the European Union presidency said on Monday that his country will effectively seek to support the Middle East peace process.

In a statement to the Jordanian daily al-Dustour published Monday, the ambassador added that Europe spares no effort to establish peace in the region. He in this respect indicated the efforts made by the EU Middle East peace process envoy Angel Moratinos.

Huse denied reports on the intention of the EU to minimize the volume of financial proportions allotted for the Mediterranean states during coming years. He indicated that the Stuttgart meeting will be held at the set time in April, 1999, saying, "It is of the same importance as Barcelona conference on the European-Mediterranean partnership."
