Egypt insists on ending the crisis between Ethiopia and Eritrea
After the dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea has continued for a third month, Egypt's President Mubarak insisted upon reaching a peaceful solution to ensure the stability of the "African Horn." Moreover, Mubarak said that he is exerting and supporting all efforts aimed at solving the dispute.
The call of president Mubarak came after his talks with the Eritrean President Assias Afworki yesterday.
The latest African Summit, which was held in Burkina Faso last June called on the two sides to lay down weapons and solve the dispute through peaceful means. However peace efforts exerted until now have failed to resolve the two countries' dispute.
Eritrean and Ethiopian delegations have paid visits to Egypt during recent weeks to meet with high-ranking Egyptian officials.
The dispute over borders broke out at the beginning of May when Ethiopia accused Eritrea of occupying an area of its territory, known as the "Bario" triangle, covering 400 square kilometers. Eritrea says that its troops only restored its territory.
