Originally published

The head of the general union for the Moroccan contractors, Abdul Rehim Hagougi said that the Moroccan - Tunisian works council, recently formed with the head of the Tunisian Union for Manufactures and Merchants Hadi al-Jilani, aims at examining opportunities for establishing joint enterprises for economic integration between the two states.

Al-Hagougi said that Tunisian and Moroccan adherence to the agreement for partnership with the European Union helps in coordinating the efforts to set up local economic corporations and develop their performance, in addition to activating trade exchange within the bilateral free exchange zone that Tunisia and Morocco intend to establish.

Al-Hagougi said that the similarity of Tunisian and Moroccan products doesn't form a barrier to cooperation and integration, asserting that many sectors in the two countries are integrated and not competitive. He called for the establishment of information and promotional efforts to explain the capabilities available in the two countries.

The Moroccan prime minister has called on the private sectors in Morocco and Tunisia to play central roles in developing economic relations between the two states.
