Yemen, Iran discuss bilateral issues
Former Iranian President Hashami Rafsanjani has called for supporting the call advocated by Iranian President Muhammad Khatami to convene an urgent meeting of the Islamic states' foreign ministers to study the Israeli plan aiming at Judaizing occupied Jerusalem.
During his meeting on Tuesday in Tehran with Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Abdullah al-Ahmar, Rafsanjani indicated the deeply-rooted historical relations between the two countries. He stressed mutual keenness to boost these relations.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi met on Tuesday in Tehran with Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Sheikh Abdullah Hussein al-Ahmar, currently visiting Iran. Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means of developing them, as well as conditions in the Middle East, the African Horn and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Al-Ahmar expressed hope that the talks he is holding Tehran will yield positive results towards "strengthening relations between the two countries." The joint committee, he added, is the proper framework to maintain bilateral cooperation.
