Government and tribes reach truce in Yemen
El-Gadean tribe in Maereb governorate and Yemeni army forces signed a final truce today to stop the clashes between them. The two sides said that Sanaa - Maereb road is safe for the first time since the outbreak of clashes between the two parties nearly 10 days ago.
Deputies' Council member Sheikh Sultan El-Aradah, who has made efforts to mediate between the two parties, said that his efforts helped lead to the truce, which included in addition to the agreement on halting the clashes, forming an investigation committee to look into the circumstances in which the clashes broke out, and to determine the human and financial losses suffered by the two parties, as well as ensuring the road would be open to the government.
Sheikh Sultan, one of Ma'ereb's sheikhs, added that during the mediation, he felt a real desire for the two parties to halt the clashes and restore order in the governorate. He did not rule out that battles may restart.
