Clashes between police and anti-Arabization demonstrators in Algeria.
In a statements during the celebration of the 36th anniversary of Algeria's independence and the beginning of implementing an Arabization law that would require use of the Arabic language, Algerian President Liamine Zeroual warned of sides that aim at striking Algeria's unity and stability.
Zeroual said that terrorists have totally lost their battle with security forces in Algeria.
Zeroual's remarks came as clashes took place yesterday in the Algerian capital between the police and about 1,000 demonstrators who were attempting to head to the presidential place.
The Association for Culture and Democracy party arranged this demonstration in order to denounce the suppression and condemnation of the authority, in the region of al-Kabael. They, also demanded the cancellation of the law of "comprehensive Arabization" that will take effect on coming Sunday.
